RSA – Road Safety Education Service
On Thursday the 18th of January Louise McGeever from the Road Safety Education Centre attended the school. She gave a half day presentation to TY’s. She homed in on the importance of High Vis vests for pedestrians as they are the 2nd highest group of road users killed each year. They accounted for 20% of all road deaths from 1997 – 2011. Louise also spoke about correct seat belt usage and other factors that contribute to road fatalities. She showed students a wide variety of videos and they used beer goggles to see the effect of alcohol. This was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day for all students. Thank you to Ms Maguire for organising this event and to the teachers for supervising various year groups.
