Congratulations to the ‘Lifesavers Bank’ from St Clare’s who have qualified for the all Ireland finals of the Build a Bank Challenge on March 21st in the RDS, Dublin. Over 130 school bank teams took part in the competition with only 48 selected for the next round. The team consists of six Transition Year students Alva Sheridan, Ella Sloane, Caoimhe McManus, Lorraine Moffitt, Jennifer Montgomery and Laura Fowley. They were accompanied by their teacher Ms Gallagher who facilitates the Build A Bank Challenge within the school.
The girls have been working hard over the last four months promoting the bank within the school, getting students to open accounts, promoting regular saving with exiting customers and registering students for phone and internet banking.
The girls are also fundraising for a new defibrillator and promoting students to get trained in basic first aid, CPR and AED usage. The have qualified as community first responders and will help out on March the 4th at 2pm in the Bee Park at CPR training which is available to everyone. They are also raising funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and Make a Wish Foundation.
Each week the team is assisted by Eimear Kelly who is the youth officer with AIB in Manorhamilton. Best wishes to all in the National finals.
